There’s an old saying, “Truth is the first casualty in war.” And so it was this week when a hospital in Gaza was destroyed. Hamas blamed Israel and the media, like fake news The New York Times, took their word and without verification, ran with the story enflaming hatred for the Jews throughout the Muslim world. I predicted this would happen in my October 13 newsletter.

But hospital story was a lie. The truth is, video surveillance and audio of a conversation between 2 Palestinians shows that the explosion was caused by an errant Hamas missile intended for Israel.

The Federalists’ David Harsanyi writes that this story is a ‘vivid example of journalism rot.’ And he reminds readers of the Russian Collusion and Bret Kavanaugh rape hysteria saying “Actually, considering their reach and role, establishment media are often the biggest disseminators of disinformation.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to erase Hamas’ military and governing capabilities because of its brutal and abhorrent murderers of more than 1,300 Israeli citizens.

THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST

“And this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” - 1 John 4:3b.

In all of the news coverage of the war in the Holy Land of Israel, no one has mentioned the elephant in the room — God. Specifically, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Our secular media is Biblically ignorant of the Scriptures. Israel and specifically Jerusalem, is the key that unlocks God's prophetic plan for the nations of the world. God made an everlasting covenant with Israel and He deeded the land of Israel to the Jewish people. (Genesis 12, 15, 17)

But unbelieving people are blinded by Satan, the god of this world. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Therefore, they don’t know what they don’t know.

What is motivating the antisemitic demonstrations around the world? The spirit of antichrist. Antichrist means, ‘against Christ.’ Jesus is Jewish. Satan is against Christ and against the Jews.

The Apostle John wrote, “The spirit of the antichrist is already in the world.”

To help us recognize this spirit, John wrote, “This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and is now already in the world.” (1 John 4:2–3)

There are 3 characteristics of the spirit of the antichrist.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4: “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (antichrist) is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

There’s your answer. Anyone who:

1. Opposes God,

2. Exalts himself over God.

3. Lives as though he IS God — that person has the spirit of antichrist. It is a spirit of self-exaltation and defiance to God.

The war in Israel defies God. You see, Israel was chosen by God to be His means of bringing blessing to the world. Satan, the enemy of God, has tried throughout history to destroy the Jews. But Satan’s days are numbered. And it will not go well for his surrogates like Hamas and Hezbollah and any other nation that joins them in fighting Israel.

Zechariah 12 says God will make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples (v. 2) and a heavy immovable rock for the nations that gather against her (v. 3).  All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it. (v. 4) On that day, declares the Lord, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness.

Ezekiel 38-39 says that Russia, Iran, Turkey, possibly Libya and Sudan will attack Israel in the war of Gog and Magog.

In that war, God will miraculously defend Israel and destroy the invading armies. Ezekiel 39:6 says, “I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

Never fear. Jesus said there will be wars and rumors of wars “but see to it that you are not alarmed.” (Matthew 24:6) For those of us who follow Jesus, there is no need to be afraid.

People will be so desperate for peace that they will make a deal with the devil for peace. The Bible says in Daniel 9:27 that the Antichrist will confirm a peace agreement with many for 7 years. But it won’t last.

The only One who can bring peace to Jerusalem is Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Until then, pray for the peace of Jerusalem
