Gary Varvel: Hunter's clown show plus the history of Gaza

On Wednesday, Hunter Biden and his lawyer, Abbe Lowell must’ve been clowning around as they crashed and then fled a House committee hearing where legislators considered whether to hold him in contempt of Congress. I’m not sure what that stunt was all about but made for entertaining TV.
MIDDLE EAST REVIEW
ARCHIVE 2011 - This cartoon depicts the state of Israel since it became a nation May 14, 1948. It also reflects Bible prophecy in Zechariah 12. Continue reading below.
BREAKING NEWS
The Times of Israel reports, Prof. Malcolm Shaw, a British lawyer will defend Israel at the International Court of Justice in the Hague next week against South Africa’s accusation that the Jewish state is perpetrating genocide against the Palestinians in its ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza.”
Genocide? Israel Defense Forces cleared a way for the citizens of Gaza to get out before the war started. The IDF warned Palestinian citizens that they were going to attack Hamas. Does that sound like “the Jewish state is perpetrating genocide?”
The war would be over today if Hamas would surrender. But on New Years Eve, Hamas launched missiles at Israel again. Does that sound like they want the war to stop?
WHY a 2-STATE SOLUTION is DOOMED
A 2-state solution will never work because God won’t allow it. I’m serious.
Joel 3:1-2 says, “In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
BACKGROUND: The Jewish people lost sovereign control of their land in 607BC when Babylon invaded Israel. But the Jews miraculously received their sovereignty over the land when Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948. We are living in the time when God began to restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem. Now look at verse 2
verse 2 I (God) will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.”
Notice that God is going to punish the nations because they “divided up my land.” God owns everything but the Bible says this about Israel, “whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.” (Zechariah 2:8)
Now get this — God punishes the nations that try to get Israel to give up (divide) land for peace.
In Bill Koenig’s book Eye To Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel, he documents a connection between national calamities and efforts to divide the land of Israel. We haven’t noticed this happening because we are Biblically illiterate.
Below is just one example that I find fascinating. If America’s leaders understood this Biblical promise they would stop the 2-state solution nonsense. Nevertheless, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, keeps talking to Israel leaders about a 2-state solution.
THE GAZA TIMELINE
When Israel became a nation in 1948, they were immediately attacked. God miraculously defeated the Muslim invaders. In the Six-Day War Israel was attacked again but this time the Israeli Defense Forces captured the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
In hopes of making peace with the Palestinians, Israel’s government allowed the Palestinians to live at those sites. The Jewish people built homes and businesses in Gaza and it prospered.
Koenig warned President George W. Bush by letters prior to September 11, 2001, and after about the consequences of dividing Israel. Bush had been talking with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon about a land for peace deal.
On April 25, 2002, President George Bush met with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah at Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. Bush said, “Our two nations share a vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security. I reiterated that all parties have responsibilities to help achieve that vision. The Palestinian Authority must do more to stop terror. Israel must finish its withdrawal…"
In an April 25, 2004 Brookings Institute article titled: The day that Bush took Gaza, the author warned this was a big mistake. Quoting the article:
“Having trumpeted his (Bush) support for an independent Palestinian state, he is now taking on responsibility for ensuring that the Gaza mini-state created by Israel’s withdrawal does not turn into a failed terrorist state.”
“…Like it or not, Bush’s endorsement of the Sharon plan means that the United States will end up inheriting the problems of Gaza.”
On August 17, 2005, Sharon ordered Israelis living in Gaza, to leave. Many of the Jewish settlers were enraged and in anguish over being evicted from their homes and businesses in the Gaza Strip. Many of them had lived there for 4 decades. The Israel Defense Force had to enforce the evacuation.
On August 23, 2005, Hurricane Katrina began over the Bahamas and within a few days hit New Orleans flooding 80 percent of the city and killing 1,390 people making it one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history. Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced from their homes.

On December 18, 2005, Sharon was hospitalized following a minor ischemic stroke. During his hospital stay, doctors discovered a heart defect requiring surgery and ordered bed rest pending a cardiac catheterization scheduled for 5 January 2006.
On January 4, 2006, Sharon had a massive stroke and lapsed into a coma and remained comatose for 8 years.
On January 29, 2006, The Central Elections Commission released the final results and announced that Hamas had won 74 of the 132 seats, while Fatah trailed with 45. The Palestinians elected Hamas to govern the Gaza Strip.
Hamas developed Gaza into a terrorist enclave where it has fired missiles at Israel for decades.
On January 11, 2014, Ariel Sharon died having never recovered from his comatose state.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel citizens killing over 1,200 civilians and taking 236 hostage. Israeli military said some 9,500 missiles, rockets and drones were fired at Israel from Gaza and other fronts.
The prediction by Brookings’ 2004 article came true.
In Genesis 12:3, tells Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
If America’s leaders knew the Bible, they would have known that God has returned the land of Israel back to the Jewish people and whoever tries to divide the land will be punished.
America’s leaders in the past understood God’s justice. In 1787, George Mason said, “As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes & effects providence punishes national sins, by national calamities.”
Food for thought.
