Part 3 - God’s 7000 year timeline
“…I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come…” — Isaiah 46:9-10.
God has given us clues to the end from the beginning hidden in the Bible. When gives a time period like a number of days, I ask myself, why is that important? Could it be a clue to a prophetic truth?
In this series I’m sharing with you some hidden Easter Eggs that have been discovered within the pages of Scripture that point to the return of Jesus Christ happening very soon.
As mentioned in Part 1, the day for a thousand years principle is applied to these prophecies. We know that 2000 years elapsed between Adam and Abraham. Then another 2000 years elapsed between Abraham and Jesus. At the end of this 4000 year (4th day) time period, Jesus was crucified and resurrected. With that in mind, the Hosea Prophecy takes on specific significance.
Easter Egg 5: The Hosea Prophecy:
Hosea’s prophecy tells us when to expect the resurrection. Hosea 6:1-2 says, “Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. 2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.”
This text only makes sense if you are using the one day is a thousand years principle found in Psalm 90:4 and 2 Peter 3:8.
It has been nearly 2000 years (2 days) since the crucifixion of Jesus in 30AD (there is some dispute over the year). The Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple 40 years later in 70AD.
According to Hosea’s prophetic timeline, God is going to spiritually revive Israel 2000 years after the crucifixion of Jesus that puts us at 2030.
This spiritual revival of Israel will take place during the 7-year Tribulation period mentioned in Daniel 9:24-27. God will revive Israel and give them a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26) before Jesus returns.
This appears to agree with Jesus when He told the Jews they would not see Him again until the Jewish people said, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” (Luke 13:35). When that happens Jesus will return and restore the Jews “that we may live in his presence.” (Jesus’ reign on Earth for 1000 years - Rev. 20).
Easter Egg 6: The Woman at the Well Prophecy
John 4:17-18 says, “Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband.”
This shocked the woman and then she said that she knows that the Messiah is coming and He will explain all things. Jesus said, “I am, he.”
The woman ran into town and told everyone about Jesus so they came out to see Him and begged him to stay. Verse 40 says, “So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.”
Here’s the prophetic view: The 6 different men could represent the 6000 years of man’s time on the earth. When it says in verse 40 that Jesus stayed 2 days that could refer to 2000 years between His first and second comings.
Is this a coincidence? Or is this a hidden meaning that the gospel would be given to the Gentiles for 2000 years. The Samaritans weren’t fully Jewish and Jews didn’t associate with them. But Jesus went to them. Since then, Jesus’ missionaries have taken the gospel all over the world.
Now, get this. John 4:43 says, “After the two days he left for Galilee.” There it is again. So after the 2 days or 2000 years, there should be a resurrection. Right? If you keep reading you’ll see that in verse 46, “a certain royal official whose son was dying” comes to Jesus begging Him to come and heal His son. But Jesus tells him to go and his son will live. The man takes Jesus at His word and heads home. He is met by his servants and learns that his son is alive and that he was healed when Jesus said the word. There it is — after 2 days (2000 years) Jesus (heals) resurrects a boy who is near death.
To the scoffers I leave you with Peter’s words:
In 2 Peter 3:3-4, we read that scoffers will come saying, “Where is his coming?..”
Then in verses 8-9 is says, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise,as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
