Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
I don’t know Mike Johnson, the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, but so far, I like what I see. He appears to be a committed Christian who not only talks the talk but walks the walk. He was introduced as a Baptist and he is a constitutional law attorney.
As you might have expected the left had a hissy fit when this photo was shared on X of Johnson leading the Republican conference in prayer on Tuesday after securing the GOP nomination for speaker. The left is decidedly ignorant of the fact our founding fathers are the ones who started the tradition of prayer before each session of Congress.
John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and an author of the Federalist Papers wrote, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
Today, America has fallen far short of John Jay’s preference.
Predictably, Johnson is being criticized by the left as a “Mega MAGA” and “MAGA Extremist.” The party of tolerance for all beliefs, can’t stand it when Christians talk about God. WND is reporting that “Johnson worked for the Christian legal defense group Alliance Defending Freedom, formerly the Alliance Defense Fund, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has smeared as a "hate group." Wanna know why? Because of “ADF's longstanding opposition to homosexuality and the transgender agenda as being sinful.”
Hmm. How dare a Christian organization uphold Biblical principles.
Oh, and a few on the right criticized Johnson for his old Tweet about COVID-19 saying our priority should be: “getting vaccines into arms.” But on May 10, 2023, Johnson wrote a letter to the HHS demanding that the administration end the healthcare workers vaccine mandate.
I’m cautiously optimistic because I liked Johnson’s introductory speech to the House after taking the gavel. Quoting the Bible he said that “God is the One who raises up those in authority.” (Romans 13:1-2) And he said he’s going to tackle the national debt which he called, “unsustainable.” If he can rein in government spending, that would be a miracle.
Look, somehow Johnson was able to herd the cats and get 220 votes. I pray he has further success.
Not all dark houses are haunted. They just might be powered by unreliable renewable energy. America needs power. Lots of it. To be on the safe side, trick-or-treat at the well-lit homes.
