Gary Varvel: U.S. Troops fight back and Democrats cancel voters

We have over 3,000 U.S. troops stationed at bases in Iraq and Syria to keep ISIS from returning. Since the war in Israel began on October 7th when Hamas slaughtered 1,200 Israelis, Iranian-backed militias have attacked our bases housing US troops over 100 times.
Biden has wanted to stay out of the war but Iran’s proxies keep taking potshots at U.S. bases. The U.S. troops have been turning the other cheek until yesterday when a U.S. drone strike killed Abu Taqwa Al-Saedi, an Iran-backed militia commander according the Sun and other news outlets.
On December 31, the U.S. military said its forces opened fire on Houthi rebels after they attacked a cargo ship in the Red Sea. U.S. Central Command said, "The U.S. Navy helicopters returned fire in self-defense," after responding to a distress call and warning the Houthis. But the Houthis fired on the helicopters and the U.S. helicopter returned fire sinking 3 Houthi boats killing 10.
The Houthis started attacking cargo ships in the Red Sea in retaliation for the war in Israel.
The war in Israel appears to be escalating. Every day, Hezbollah attacks Israel from the north while the IDF continue to root out Hamas in Gaza in the south. Canada and Germany have told their citizens to leave Lebanon where Hezbollah is located.
The Times of Israel reported that Israel Defense Forces carried out strikes on Syria outside of Damascus early Tuesday morning in response to rocket fire on northern Israel’s Golan Heights. This caught my eye because Damascus, which is the oldest constantly occupied city in history, is mentioned by Isaiah several times.
But Isaiah 17:1 says, “A prophecy against Damascus: “See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.”
Some believe this already happened. But some prophecies in the Bible have a near and far fulfillment. Besides, the prophecy says “Damascus will NO LONGER be a city.” It is a city right now which leads me to think that this prophecy is in the future.
There have also been skirmishes on the west bank between Palestinians and Israelis.
Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the Palestinians, all have the same goal for Israel that is mentioned in Psalm 83:4, “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
I’m not saying this current war is the fulfillment of the Psalm 83 war because the Moabites and the Ammonites, which were the people in north and central Jordan, haven’t joined in the battle yet. If they do, that would be an eye opener.
Amir Tsarfati reports that in the past 24 hours Fulani Islamist militias launched another massacre against Christian Nigerians killing at least 41 Christians.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:9, “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.”
Another reminder of how fortunate we are to be living in America while we still have religious freedom. Pray for the salvation of the enemies of God
Maine’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows recently posted on X, “The fundamental right of any American citizen to vote freely, fairly and to have their vote counted is the premise of our democracy.” Unless you want to vote for Donald Trump and then your vote doesn’t count. One legal analyst called Bellow’s decision “mind-boggling and comical.“
And another thing — our government is a constitutional republic not a democracy.
James McHenry (1753-1816) was a Maryland delegate to the Constitutional Convention. He kept a journal and on September 18, 1787, he wrote: “A lady asked Dr. (Benjamin) Franklin, “Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy?” “A republic,” replied the Doctor, “if you can keep it.”
When unelected Democrat bureaucrats have the power to deny voters the ability to decide who they can and cannot vote for, we are in danger of losing the republic. The same goes for Red States. They shouldn’t ban President Biden from the ballot if he’s hasn’t been convicted of anything.

In case you missed it, here is the link to the interview I did on Wendy Bell’s radio program. She invited me on her show to talk about the Toronto Sun cancelling me over one of my cartoons. She starts talking about my cartoon around the 1:22:00 mark. Enjoy.
