Here we go again — another mass murder, this time at Covenant School in Nashville, TN.
Three adults and three children were killed, by a person identified as a 28-year-old white transgender person (a biological female at birth but living as a man using he/him pronouns) named Audrey Hale who once attended the school, authorities said. The shooter was killed by police at the scene. FYI: Only 6 percent of mass shootings happen at private schools.
Now the same questions are being asked: Why did the shooter do it? How can we stop it in the future?
The left will demand for more gun control legislation. President Joe Biden has already renewed his call for an assault weapons ban. Next they will blame the NRA, mock people of faith for praying for the victims’ families and complain about conservatives not doing enough to stop this from happening.
Look, the idea that the government can disarm the American public is not only unconstitutional, it’s also impossible to confiscate an estimated 350 million guns in our country. The truth is, government isn’t god. It cannot keep guns out of the hands of people with evil in the heart.
Notice that I said, “heart.” The heart is the mind, emotion and will of a person.
Jesus said in Matthew 15:19, "For out of the heart come evil thoughts — murder ..."
Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
All mass shooters have a heart problem. This shooter had murder in her heart. There is no law that can stop murderers from murdering. In fact, we have laws against murder. And if it were possible to remove assault weapons from society, a mass shooter will just find a different method of murdering. How do I know? Because murder comes from the heart and the only way to stop this from happening, is to change the heart of people.
Our Founding Fathers understood this problem. John Adams, the second president of the United States, said, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion … Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
In George Washington’s farewell address he said, “Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”
Did you catch that? He said national morality will NOT work without religious principles. By contrast, secular (meaning without god) humanists believe morality can be attained without a belief in God. While it is true that the Bible says God has given each one of us a conscience. The question is what is guiding it? President Washington recognized that religious principles are essential in order to guide our conscience.
If you want to restore moral values to our nation, you must restore religious principles to the public square.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” By contrast, a country devoid of the Spirit of the Lord, will lose its liberty.
So while the families grieve their loss, politicians will once again debate gun control and demonize each other for political gain. And the government will not accomplish anything.
But Americans can do something. We can pray to the God of peace. And when you talk to him, here is some advice on how to pray.
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Well said Gary, I completely agree with what you have written. If we can't put God back into public school, I fear that we will lose the battle against weakness and high places

Even “a man of war” knows the way to peace and end to violence and murder is through God. Government laws won’t save us, they only make things worse. Sadly ironic, yet enlightening, how on this same day polls are released that show this country is more concerned with money then with God .. sign of things to come.
