A Christian cartoonist's journey to writing Biblical truth
1. Why this, why now
I am a Christian, conservative, cartoonist, author and filmmaker living near Indianapolis. For 23 years I was the editorial cartoonist for The Indianapolis Star. I left in 2019. Since 2001 my work has been syndicated through Creators Syndicate and can be seen in over 100 newspapers. Two years ago, I started a weekly newsletter called, Varvel’s Views From The Right. One of my subscribers invited me to try Substack to reach a broader audience, so here I am.
2. My goal
As a self-employed journalist/cartoonist and a follower of Jesus Christ who studies the Bible, I believe that God has equipped me with certain gifts to use in proclaiming Him to this generation. Therefore, I am engaged in the battle for the hearts and minds of people.
What you can expect here is a mix of cartoons, parody with a Biblical worldview. I love the study of eschatology (prophecy) and I write extensively about where we must be in God’s prophetic timeline. I’ll give you a perspective of current events that you may not see anywhere else.
As Rush Limbaugh used to say, “I’m on the cutting edge of societal evolution.”
3. Welcome to my class
For 24 years I taught an adult Sunday School Class. I estimate that I have studied the Bible for nearly 5000 hours preparing lessons. That coupled with my 40 years of experience working in the newspaper industry, I have had a front-row seat observing America’s secular (godless) transformation. My goal is to call Americans back to our Godly Heritage.
I’m a follower of Tipping Point Prophecy Update, here on Substack. I believe, like Pastors Jimmy Evans, David Jeremiah and John McArthur in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture.
I’ll be posting daily for a few weeks as I start but with the intention of posting twice weekly afterward. Please watch for my commentary and tell your friends if you like what you see. If you don’t like what you see, I hope you’ll keep it to yourself.
