Gary Varvel: Biden flattens UAW future with EV plans

Plus a Biblical view of fossil fuels

Are we in Bizarro World where up is down and down is up?

The reason I ask is because President Biden broke protocol and instead of staying neutral in a labor dispute, he stood with the UAW strikers in Detroit. He said they should get more of the profits from the carmakers.

But the irony of all ironies is that the automakers profits are being used to offset the billions of dollars in losses from building EVs which Biden is demanding. Which means Biden’s green new deal policies are the reason the UAW members aren't getting raises.

This a case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Biden pretends to care for the autoworkers but is actually the one who is causing their problem.

That’s right, ‘Lunch-bucket Joe’ is demanding working families buy cars priced about $18,000 more than a gas-powered vehicle. Affording an EV might be easy when you’re raking in millions of dollars from China and Ukraine, but it’s not so easy for working-class families suffering to make ends meet because of the negative effects of Bidenomics.

Biden’s radical demands for electric vehicles (EV) will put many of these UAW strikers out of work and send their jobs overseas. Financially, workers who were on track to make $30 an hour at a GM plant in Ohio, would only make $16 an hour working at an EV battery plant.

EVs are crazy expensive to make and automakers lose money on every EV sold. So why are automakers profits up? Because nearly half of the trillions in subsidies in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) are being funneled to transportation ‘decarbonization’ and EV batteries. That’s why. Instead of letting free market capitalism reward innovation, the socialist democrat, green new deal politicians are picking winners and losers and forcing you and me to pay for the transition to EVs.

Surprisingly, the UAW hasn’t figured that out, yet. So they smile when Biden tells them they deserve more money, when he is the one who is killing their jobs.

If that is not bad enough, Biden’s crazy climate change air regulations could jeopardize a million jobs.

If the democrats and Biden were trying to destroy America, they couldn’t do a better job than what they are already doing.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for clean energy and believe we should be using the cleanest fossil fuel — natural gas. America runs on energy. We need a lot of it.

A Biblical view

Government-funded scientists who study climate change and fear that they’ll lose their grants if they don’t find climate change, demand that we ban fossil fuels to stop climate change. 

Question: If there was no government funding, would climate scientists forecasts change? Asking for a friend.

Brace yourself. This is going to sound radical but I believe that God intended for us to use coal, oil and natural gas to produce energy.

Fossil fuels are the product of great masses of organic material (plants and animals) being crushed until most of the hydrogen and oxygen are pressed out of it.

It is very unusual for plants and animals to be buried underground. Therefore, the only explanation that makes sense for fossil fuels is the catastrophic worldwide flood detailed in the book of Genesis 6-9. 

Consider this, out of cursing comes blessing. God flooded the earth killing all living creatures except for one family of 8 people. And through burying the plants and animals God provided the fuel for modern life 4000 years later.

God also made trees that just happen to convert CO2 into oxygen. Creation has been fine-tuned to work together. I don’t have enough faith to believe that could happen on its own. There must be a Creator God. And the Bible says that He is the One holding everything together.

“He (Jesus) existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” (Colossians 1:17)

Since God is holding everything together, we shouldn’t waste one dime worrying about climate change. There are much more important issues to deal with in ‘Bizarro World.’
