We're living in the time of the end that the Bible prophesied

Reminiscent of Jimmy Carter’s 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis, President Biden’s foreign policy has resulted Hamas killing Americans in Israel and reports of Americans being held hostage.

GOG AND MAGOG WAR

According to the Bible, the current war in Israel will not be the last.

The prophet Ezekiel was given a vision of a future war in Israel. (I think he may have been seeing our day). This war is called the Gog and Magog war. Bible scholars believe the nations described by their Biblical names are modern-day, Russia, Turkey and Iran. There are others mentioned but these are the Big 3.

In chapters 36-37, Ezekiel recorded that the Jewish people would return from the four corners of the earth to their homeland. At the time this was written, Israel was in captivity in Babylon. But Ezekiel 36:24 says, “For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.” The dispersion of the Jewish people took place after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Second Temple in 70AD.

But in 1948 Israel became a nation in a day, fulfilling Isaiah 66:7-8. Since then, Jewish people have moved from the four corners of the earth back to Israel. Today, there are 9 million Jews in Israel which partially fulfills Ezekiel’s prophecy.

Some Bible commentators, like Adam Clarke, believed this war happened in the past. But Clarke died in 1832, long before Israel became a nation. Without the restoration of Israel, this Gog and Magog war prophecy couldn’t have happened.

Ezekiel 38:8 says, “After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel…”

“Recovered from war?” It’s possible that the after Israel defeats Hamas and possibly Hezbollah if they join the war, that the Gog and Magog war will ensue.

There are several pieces of this prophetic puzzle that are falling into place. Iran’s nuclear ambitions coupled with its hatred of Israel is a deadly combination. Iran has declared that it has enough nuclear material to make a bomb. Israel has said that it would not allow them to take that step.

In June of 2022, Israel’s military launched its largest military games called, “Chariots of Fire” in preparation for a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Now listen to Ezekiel 38:4. It says, “I (God) will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army…” What are the “hooks into your jaws” that will draw Iran, Russia, Turkey and others against Israel?

It’s not hard to imagine that an Israeli attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities, could become the hook that draws, the big 3 nations, Russia, Iran and Turkey into a war with Israel in retaliation.

Here’s another interesting fact to consider. Since Ezekiel wrote this prophecy nearly 2600 years ago, Russia has never had a relationship with Iran (Persia) until 2003 when they signed an arms agreement.

When Israel is attacked by Gog and Magog, God will miraculously protect Israel. In chapter 39:6 it says, “I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Lord.” When these invading nations are defeated, the whole world will know this was an act of God.

From chapters 40 to the end of his book, Ezekiel writes in detail about the Temple that is yet to be built. It appears to me that chapters 36-48 will be fulfilled in chronological order.

Israel has been restored physically. Spiritually, hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews have accepted Jesus as their Messiah. (Ezekiel 36:26-27) - “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you…”

As I look at current events through Biblical lenses, it appears that the chess pieces may be making their final moves toward the end times events.
