Essay: Pray for Mike Johnson

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas doesn’t want to see a problem at the southern border. When asked over and over at a Senate committee hearing last Tuesday about how many illegal immigrants have been let into this country, he wouldn’t answer the question. Instead, he blamed the broken immigration system for his failures.

Newsweek reports on a CNN poll, “just over half of Democrats say they want their party to nominate a different candidate than President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election, according to a new poll.” I wonder why?

X VIDEO - Barack Obama promoted a video by President Biden and the comments are not kind. For example:

Jeff Carlson commented: “He’s your 3rd term vice-president. And all that’s unfolding is your fault.”
Kimberly Morin wrote: “You aided in the destruction of this country, just as you still are today.”
Nikki Moonitz wrote: “Oh, you brought change alright. You took a very racially healed country and tore it apart at the seams with your race division and bs victim hierarchy.”

This is not a good sign for Biden considering that X (formerly known as Twitter) is the home of progressive liberals. Oh, there are still conservatives like me on X, but Obama has 132 million followers on X and they were strangely silent on this post.

PRAY FOR MIKE JOHNSON

The latest example of Satan’s plan to make evil look normal and righteousness look evil, is evident in the attacks on the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. He is being mocked, ridiculed and demonized by the left for being…wait for it…for being a Bible-believing Christian. I’m not kidding.

A Daily Beast headline read, “Here’s why Mike Johnson is more dangerous than Donald Trump.”

On X (formerly known as Twitter) College professor Samuel Perry Tweeted, “Mike Johnson represents an old school strain of Christian nationalist. Not that of vulgar grifters but the true believers. Christian with a smile. But the goals and ultimate dangers are the same.”

Talk show host Bill Maher called Mike Johnson a religious nut and joked that his celebrity crush is Kirk Cameron. One of Maher’s guests on his show compared Johnson to David Duke and the audience applauded.

Newsweek reports that “12,000 people have signed a Christian petition condemning the congressman (Mike Johnson) as a "false prophet.” These people call themselves Faithful America, an online Christian group that supports social justice causes.

At the Washington Post, Kate Cohen wrote, “Mike Johnson is a pro-gun Christian nationalist. Yes, be afraid.

Why is she afraid? She quotes Johnson’s speech to church in Shreveport and said that his ideology might encourage Jan. 6 rioters. What did he say?

Johnson said, “We’re talking about the very survival of the truth in our nation.” He went on: “We serve the Lion of Judah, not some sort of namby-pamby little king. … ‘Our weapons are for pulling down strongholds’ — this doesn’t sound like a namby-pamby Gospel.”

Cohen doesn’t know nor understand Biblical language. Johnson’s mention of the ‘Lion of Judah’ is Jesus. Johnson’s use of ‘our weapons…’ is a quote from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.

Johnson wasn’t advocating for physical violence with guns. No, the verse is talking about spiritual weapons that have the power to change people’s minds.

What are spiritual weapons? Ephesians 6:10-20 lists the armor of God which is truth, faith, righteousness, salvation, the gospel and the Bible is called, “The Sword of the Spirit.” And don’t forget prayer.

But Johnson’s biggest offense to the left is his support for traditional marriage and opposition to the LGBTQ+ agenda.

The Hill reports, “In 2016, (Johnson) voted against the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act and the Equality Act on several occasions. He later introduced legislation to prohibit federal dollars from being used to make “sexually-oriented” materials — including descriptions or depiction of “any topic” related to sexual orientation or gender identity — available to children under the age of 10.”

Jesus said many times that his followers are ‘blessed’ when they face persecution because of him (Matthew 5:10-11). And Matthew 24:9-10 warns us, “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other…”

We’re seeing many ‘turn away from the faith.’ So pray for Speaker Johnson that the LORD will give him courage and strength to endure the attacks motivated by Satan. Also pray that Johnson will be given wisdom for such a time as this.
