NO COMMON GROUND
While in the Philippines, Pam contracted amoebic dysentery and was treated before she knew she was pregnant. Doctors urged her to have an abortion because because the drugs she was given would cause severe disabilities but she refused because of her faith in God.
Aug. 14, 1987, Pam gave birth to Timothy Tebow who grew to be a 6’3”- 235 lb. star quarterback in high school, a two-time national champion QB for the Florida Gators, became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, was a first round pick in the NFL Draft; and played for the Denver Broncos. Today, he is a Christian author and speaker and says, "I’m so grateful my mom gave me a chance at life.”
Sonya got pregnant while in college. She had already had one abortion and considered another. But this time she chose life and on March 14, 1988 Sonya gave birth to Stephen Curry, the NBA’s greatest 3-point shooter of all time.
Our most valuable possession is life but who decides when life begins? God? Science? Or your personal opinion based on feelings? On most issues we strive for political compromise but there is no common ground on this issue. Here are 3 different views.
THE BIBLICAL VIEW
The Bible says that God creates human life at conception.
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” Obviously, if God knows us BEFORE we are formed in the womb, then life begins at conception.
Psalm 139:13-16 says, “You (God) made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb… 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born…”
Just as I see a cartoon in my mind before I draw it, so God saw you, knew you before He formed your body. Therefore, abortion kills a human being. Psalm 127:3 says, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” So the Bible is pro-life.
THE SCIENCE
Science proves that when a single sperm cell with 23 chromosomes joins with a female ovum containing 23 chromosomes that a human organism is formed with 46 chromosomes and its own unique genetic makeup. This zygote is the beginning of a new individual's life. Plus ultrasound technology enables us to see the developing child inside the womb. The developing baby not a part of the mother’s body. It is a new body growing inside of her. It’s not just a clump of cells any more than you or I am a clump of cells. Pro-lifers are backed up by science.
PERSONAL OPINION
But Gary, a woman has a right to choose. To choose what? To end the life of a pre-born child?
Abortion supporters know they are advocating for death of an innocent child. So they call themselves pro-choice and refer to abortion with other terms like, “women’s health care.” Calling abortion women’s health care is like calling a prison execution, “Inmate health care.” Abortion is the opposite of health care because it always results in a death.
Abortion supporters accuse conservatives of wanting to take away, “Women’s Reproductive Rights.” But that phrase is deceptive. Abortion ends the process of reproduction. That’s like saying that a bank robber has “Financial aid rights.”
According to Politifact, the undisputed leader when it comes to providing abortion services is Planned Parenthood. But abortion isn’t the planning of parenthood, it ends parenthood. We’re told by the left that the decision to abort should be up to a woman and her doctor. According to a Guttmacher Institute survey, “the two most common reasons were "having a baby would dramatically change my life" and "I can't afford a baby now." These excuses are personal opinions and not science.
THE CONSTITUTION
The National Right to Life estimates that 63 million abortions have been performed in the United States since 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade. But there is no Constitutional right to kill a child in the womb.
Last year, the Supreme Court corrected the 1973 Court’s error by overturning Roe. This outraged abortion supporters.
I faced their anger on Saturday, June 25, 2022. I was one of the speakers at the Stand For Life Rally at the Indiana Statehouse. We were met by hundreds of angry pro-abortion protesters screaming obscenities at us. Thank God, 50 Indiana State Police Officers stood shoulder to shoulder keeping the pro-abortion protesters away from the pro-life speakers. Two sides of the debate on abortion with no middle ground.
Granted, most babies will not become star athletes like Tebow and Curry. But every child has been created by God and deserves a chance to live, to love and experience this life on earth.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

A bit of a segue but worth noting..if Pam Tebow had dysentery, she most like was treated with...Ivermectin. It has been the go to treatment for parasitical infections for decades....
