Gary Varvel: Resurrection Day redux
My essay the Trans Easter fiasco, Biden's energy cartoon plus a new Humor Me
It’s foolish to support Biden’s war on energy. He is going to destroy the American way of life.
ARCHIVE 2000: This is my favorite Resurrection Day cartoon.
BIDEN’S TRANS EASTER
President Joe Biden, a professing Catholic, drew sharp criticism from Christians when he declared a Presidential Proclamation celebrating “Transgender Day of Visibility” on March 31, 2024.
Most people didn’t know, myself included, that March 31st was first designated as Transgender Day of Visibility in 2009 during President Obama’s administration. Just part of his fundamental transformation of America.
Easter, which lands on a different date every year, just happened to fall on March 31st this year.
Todd Starnes wrote, “Just hours after President Biden announced that Easter Sunday would be known as the “Transgender Day of Visibility, evangelist Franklin Graham issued a warning: ‘Judgment is coming.’” He’s right.
Isaiah 3:9 says, “…They display their sin like the people of Sodom and don’t even try to hide it. They are doomed! They have brought destruction upon themselves.”
Dr. Paul Chappell, pastor of Lancaster Baptist Church in California, said. “This declaration from the White House is a mockery to our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
This is a serious offense. Why?
BE LIKE GOD?
Because the Bible says that God chose our gender before we were conceived (Genesis 1:27; Jeremiah 1:5). The LGBTQ movement created their own religion in rebellion against God’s moral will. Choosing to identify as a different gender is choosing to become your own god. Remember that the serpent tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, “You can be like god.”
But America’s leaders don’t know this because they are Biblically ignorant and are puppets in the hand of the god of the air — Satan. 1 John 5:19 is says, “…The whole world is under the control of the evil one.”
Listen, I pray for those who suffer from gender-confusion. I want them to get help, but they don’t need affirmation and sexual-mutilation surgery, they need to be transformed by the renewing of their mind so that they will be able to understand God’s will for their lives. (Romans 12:1-2)
‘Nothing New Under the Sun’
King Solomon wrote, “There is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). You may be surprised to learn that transgenderism is as old as the Babylonian mystery religion.
Some scholars believed that the name, Easter, was actually derived from Ishtar, a Babylonian goddess. According to ancient Bible historian Eusebius, the leader of Babel was Nimrod and his wife was Semiramis who was also known as Ishtar. In Ancient Mesopotamia (Iraq), Ishtar was also known as the Queen of Heaven, a goddess of sex, war and justice.
Now get this, Ishtar was also believed to have the ability to change a person’s gender. This claim is well accounted for in multiple poetry fragments.
Last year, I wrote a short series of essays based on Jonathan Cahn’s book, Return Of The Gods. One of the gods he mentioned often in the Old Testament was Ishtar. The system of worship included temple prostitutes.
On page 105 of Cahn’s book he writes, “Children produced by sexual acts in the temples or by Ishtar’s prostitutes on the streets provided sacrifices for the gods.” Do you understand what he’s saying? The Ishtar temple prostitutes who were impregnated, later sacrificed their children to Molech, another pagan god.
The point of Cahn’s book is to reveal that these ancient gods (demons) are being worshipped again today. The sexual revolution of the 60s, bore its fruit, as more and more children were conceived outside of marriage and were more likely to be unwanted. Their lives provided the modern-day sacrifices (abortion) to Molech.
What did Jesus say about sin?
In John 8:11, Jesus told a woman caught in adultery, “Go and sin no more.”
And in John 5:14, Jesus told a man whom he had healed “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
Jesus came the first time as the Savior to die for our sins, not to affirm of our sins. Jesus endured the wrath of God for us on the cross. Then He rose from the dead on the 3rd day and offers us eternal life if we repent and trust in Him.
If you’ve never repented of your sins and asked Jesus to save you, I encourage you to do it today before Jesus comes again.

Your article was really good, it really puts in the words how this whole transgender movement has become the sword of the far left and those who hate God. I spend a lot of time praying these days.
Your essay grabbed my attention immediately. I wanted to share this with family members who are dealing with this exact issue. However I hesitate because I don't want to alienate them. I'm just not sure how to proceed. I love them and I pray daily for their eyes to be open to the truth. Thank you for tackling the current issues in a biblical way.
