THE SPEECH TRUMP SHOULD GIVE ON THURSDAY NIGHT

My Fellow Americans,

First of all, I want to thank my God for preserving my life last Saturday. It is only by His grace that I’m standing here today. I nearly died and I must confess, that the bullet that pierced my ear has changed me. Therefore, I changed my prepared speech for tonight to reflect my new perspective on life and this campaign.

Eight years ago, you stunned the world by making me the President of the greatest nation God ever put on this earth: The United States of America. It was the greatest honor and privilege of my life. And I thank you for praying for me and our great nation. God heard and answered your prayers and we saw tremendous success.

I ran for President in order to, “Make America Great Again.” That message struck a chord with you which ignited what Ronald Reagan once called, “The new patriotism.” My policies of tax cuts, deregulation and new trade deals worked bigly. Before the worldwide pandemic, we made our economy great, our military great, our trade deals great plus we became energy independent. I could go on and on about our successes, which are many, but I became proud. God hates pride so he humbled me by losing the last election.

The Bible says, “He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others.” (Daniel 2:21) This means that God put me in the White House in 2016 but He chose to remove me in 2020. I don’t like losing and I was wrong to blame Vice President Pence for my loss. I’m sorry and I hope he can forgive me.

I realize now that I made this job about me. I took credit for the successes and blamed others for the failures. I tried to drain the swamp. Unfortunately, I fought fire with fire and in so doing I burned bridges in Washington. I’m sorry and I pray that those I hurt will forgive me.

I confess that I did not know how to unify our country back then. The riots in our cities during the summer of 2020, remind me of what John Adams, the second president of the United States, said,

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion … Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

I’m convinced now that in order to receive the blessings of God again, we must become godly people again. Godliness is not something inherited. It must be taught in our public schools again.

In order to Make America Great Again, we need to make America godly again and the only way to do that is to return to our founding principles that taught our citizens morality based on religion. We need to teach the Bible in public schools again. I know the separation of church and state crowd will scream about this but listen to what the Father of our country said.

In George Washington’s farewell address he said, “Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

If God gives me another chance to serve as your president, I will “praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.” (Daniel 4:37)

ARCHIVE: This 2015 ‘Teflon Don’ cartoon captured what Trump’s life would be like for the next 9 years. After he came down the escalator to announce his run for president, his friends turned against him and he took political shots from the democrats, the media and his own party. The political attacks, the lies, fake news, impeachments, fabricated indictments and convictions culminated with the assassination attempt on Saturday when a bullet pierced Trump’s right ear. The former president was a millimeter away from eternity. He credited God with saving his life.
